The Monterey Jazz Festival is one of the longest-running jazz festivals in the world, and in 2027 it reaches its 70th edition. Mark your calendar for Friday, September 24, through Sunday, September 26, 2027, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.
Why go
- Three days of performances across multiple stages, from big names on the main arena stage to intimate sets in smaller venues around the grounds.
- A relaxed setting under the oaks, with food, art, and music from late afternoon into the night.
Planning ahead
- The 2027 lineup has not been announced. Follow montereyjazzfestival.org (https://montereyjazzfestival.org/) for artists, ticket packages, and on-sale dates.
- A milestone year is likely to draw extra demand. Book your room early.
- Nights at the fairgrounds get cool. Bring a jacket and a cushion for the seating.
The North Fremont advantage
El Castell Hotel is about three minutes from the fairgrounds. That means a short rideshare instead of hunting for event parking, a break back in your room between afternoon and evening sets, and an easy trip home after the last encore.
Make a weekend of it
- Spend Saturday morning in Old Monterey, five minutes from the hotel, on the Path of History.
- Sunday morning, take a drive along 17-Mile Drive or out to Point Lobos before the music starts.
Staying at El Castell Hotel
El Castell Hotel offers boutique-style rooms and suites on North Fremont Street, each with free Wi-Fi, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a Keurig coffee maker. Book direct at elcastellhotel.com.
